Napoleon does not go to Egypt

On a wake of his 1st Italian Campaign general Bonaparte (with the help of the same people as in OTL) stages a coup, which makes him 1st Consul. Immediate consequences:

Malta remains in the hands of the Knights.

French navy is not destroyed at Abukir.

Emperor Paul I does not join anti-French coalition because "France got a king if not by name than by substance". As a result, Austria does not risk to go to war and there is no 2nd Coalition.

No war of 2nd coalition at least right away.

Renewed war with England is probable soon. Without the fleet destroyed at Aboukir I still do not think this will make an incvasion of Britain possible or allow France to break the Atlantic blockade. However the French fleet in the western Mediterranean remains a useful adjunct of French land power if there are later land campaigns in Italy or Spain.

Napoleon has less mystique, but assuming he is still a political maestro, he remains in charge. If peacetime boredom threaten the stability of his power, he will seek military excitement, most likely in Italy and Germany.
