Napoleon dies at Waterloo

Would he be seen as a tragic martyr figure, a new Jean ? Would France fight on, what will be the fate of young Napoleon II. ?

not much changes. You might have some apologists who stubbornly cling to the idea that if only he had lived, France would have made a glorious resurgence, similar to the way they pine that if he had won Waterloo, that same path to glory was there. realists correctly point out that only a miracle would bring them to that path.

Nap II has the same fate. Had Nap I died before surrendering the first time, II had a shot at being crowned, but by the time of Waterloo, the Bourbon restoration was a fact.

The Napoleonic legend would certainly be remembered differently. IOTL, the exile on St. Helena, far from reducing Napoleon in the eyes of the French people, made him even more of a martyr. The little rocky island in the South Atlanta was, in essence, the cross to which Napoleon-Christ was nailed to.
