Napolean stops at Westphalia

How would the world develop over the next century if Napolean had held the lions back at the gates of Russia? Would a unified Germany and the horrors of Two World Wars been prevented? would the ethnic pogroms all over Europa have been stopped? Would Communism be strangled at it's infancy with no base to watch it flourish? And what of France? Could it have maintained it's vast World Empire with constant attacks from England and reluctant allies ready to stab it in the back? Would a Napoleanic Dynasty truly have been the best thing for the world over?

Communism can only form in poor urban industrialized countries according to Karl Marx, his belief was that over time the working class would open their eyes to their plight and realize their subservience to the ruling class was based on a system of exploitation of the weak, that such devices as religion, the media and governance was used to keep them separated and not united.

While I would disagree with that (Karl Marx isn't some sort of god), let's agree with that for argument's sake. What dramatically changes in this scenario compared to OTL in regards to what you mentioned?

Well what about Kibbutzim? That is another style of socialist development that had been enticing and growing, poor urban industrialized populations will also always exist in history unless everyone stays in pre-industrial tech levels if Paris isnt the place where it gestates it will be some other important European city like Berlin, London or Moscow all of which had conditions ripe for the poor to start organizing themselves.

Great! And who is "Napolean", by the way?

The mascot of a popular french dietary food brand.

but you didn't answer my main point, does Napolean maintain his vast empire or will the inevitable insurrections or enemies combining?

Vast World Empire?

It was the hegemon of Europe and even without Russia was struggling to contain Spain/Portugal/Uk in Iberia.

An 1812 into Iberia instead of Russia results in a revolt in Germany in 1813 if things go badly or in 1814 / 1815 if things go well (occupy Iberia but guerilla war continues)

The Napoleonic edifice could not stand - it was like the Nazis, built on conquest and loot. Without fresh conquests it would peter out after Napoleon's death

PS - what is the importance of Westphalia???

Hello Evan. I have always wondered about that myself......

No he doesn't. Even more broadly, France would probably not retain its "vast empire" even if Napoleon lives a long and happy life until age 87 as Emperor of France. As others have noted, Napoleon's empire, while not as "evil" as Hitler's, depended on conquest and occupation. It could never conquer Britain and would not be able to keep Russia down for ever even had the 1812 invasion been successful. Also, it was predicated on alliances with a number of nations like Austria and Prussia that could at any time turn on France. This might well happen as soon as Boney expired.
