How would NOT deciding to go to war with Russia affect Napoléon's future. From what I know, quite a few members of the imperial court advised against it (ex-Empress Josèphine amongst them), and basically suggested Napoléon let it slide. So, let's say that rather than marching all the way to Moscow and losing a large portion of his seasoned troops (there was a reason that the soldiers recruited after 1812 came to derisively called the "Marie Louises" and the "Toy Soldiers" by the older troops and foreign courts), Napoléon decides that staying home with his wife and darling newborn son is a better idea. What would the fate of the French Empire be? And how would he and Emperor Alexander go about minding each other?
