Nancy Kulp picks a different seat

But, would her election inspire more old-time TV actors to run for office?

I doubt it would have much more impact on old-time TV actors than Fred Grandy's SUCCESFUL political career had on stars from the disco era. With a few admittedly notable exceptions, arts-to-politics is not seen as a very natural career-leap for most people, and one or two sitcom grandees going to DC isn't going to change that.

Oh, and Sherri, welcome to the forum! If I had noticed you were such a recent arrival, I might have taken a more amicable tone in my reply. It is an interesting question to consider, though I pretty much stand by what I wrote.

thank you for welcoming me. Sheila Kuehl ("Zelda Gilroy" on The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis) is a child/teen actress that had a career in state politics, but yeah, in California...

There were no open seats in Pennsylvania in 1984. The closest is the 23rd, a northern district where Republican incumbent William Clinger got only 51.6% of the vote. So if Kulp runs there and the celebrity factor puts her over the top, she's in. Probably becomes an undistinguished footnote until she either loses (which is possible given the district, most likely in 1988 given the context), dies in office, or retires for health reasons in 1990.
