Hi everybody, I'm working on a short story set in a world where there is an Umayyad victory at the Battle of Toulouse and Aquitaine is solidly in Islamic hands leading to the Caliphate invading and conquering Sicily earlier than OTL and then invading Italy and eventually conquering it. The Umayyads are able to suppress an ITTL insurrection by the Kaysanite Shia postponing the dynasties fall in the Middle East until the Khurramites rise up and under Pāpak Khorramdin expel the Caliphate from Persia and promote the Khurramites form of neo-Mazdakian Zoroastrianism as the religion of the new Persian Empire. The loss of most of Persia is followed by the loss of Egypt as the Christians revolt and create a new kingdom overthrowing the Islamic elite minority similar to what happened in Persia. In Mesopotamia Kaysanites under the Abbasids revolt again and gain control of Arabia and Mesopotamia, though they are unable to regain the territories of the Caliphate lost the the Egyptians and the Persians. In Southern Europe the Umayyad dynasty survives in Islamic Spain, Italy, and North Africa. The Kingdom of Egypt is eventually conquered by the resurgent Roman Empire and the the two distinct Caliphates develop very differently, with the Abbasid Caliphate becoming very fundamentalist and developing a siege mentality while the Umayyad Caliphate becomes far more liberal.

I would really like to know if anyone has any kind of suggestion on what Islamic Italy would be called? Like Islamic Spain is Al-Andalusia so what might the name for Islamic Italy be called?
