322- Constantine defeated by Licinius.

325- Licinius makes Christianity illegal again.

330- Several influential Constantinian bishops escape to Persia.

335- Persians begin to encourage Christianity alongside Zoroastrianism. Licinius the Younger begins major Christian persecutions.

340- Christians flee from the Roman Empire in all directions; to Persia, Ireland, Germania, and into the Sahara. Armenia becomes the favoured homeland of Roman Christians, as the world’s only Christian nation.

342- Licinius the Younger lead an invasion of Armenia, which is heavily defeated by the Persians.

344- A Persian army invades Syria, and with the help of dissident Christians, seizes and sacks Antioch, Tyre, Tarsus and Damascus.

345- Licinius the Younger is overthrown in favour of Claudius III, another anti-Christian ruler, who re-establishes the tetrarchy. Martinianus becomes Augustus of the East.

348- Shapur II converts to Christianity. At the Council of Nisibis, elements of Mithraism and Zoroastrianism are blended into the teachings of Jesus Christ to create a new religion for the Sassanid Empire.

350s- In Hibernia, Roman priests have successfully created a new and very different form of Celtic Christianity.

361- Pertinax overthrows Martinianus with Persian support, and attempts to rehabilitate Roman Christianity.

363- Claudius III defeats Pertinax at the Battle of Sirmium, causing a further flood of Christian emigration.

365- Death of Claudius III begins a spiral of decline for the Roman Empire.

368- Persians begin to convert the Huns to Christianity. Enthused by their new faith, the Huns begin to attack their pagan neighbours, the Goths.

374- A large Gothic force smashes its way across the Danube limes and defeats the Emperor Faustinus in pitched battle. Faustinus attempts to retreat to his capital at Nicomedia, but is murdered by Euripus, one of his Praetorian Guards, who proclaims himself Emperor.

377- The Huns begin to arrive on the Danube. Raids into the Balkans intensify.

380- Euripus declares war on the Augustus of the West, Procopius. Procopius withdraws several thousand troops from Britain to deal with the threat.

381- Bahram IV begins another Romano-Persian war. After initial success, the Persians are pushed back across the Danube by a gifted young Roman general named Symmachus.
