For those who read my previous TL, I've got some bad news: it's dead. But the good news is I'm making another Philippine(-wank) TL, but with other PODs. I already had 2 in mind:
- The Andres Novales revolt somehow succeeds. or:
- The Cavite Mutiny (this time, well-planned) turns into a full-scale revolution.
Any inputs, opinions and suggestions are welcome. Let's start some discussion.
Both Novales and cavite mutiny were lead by insulares/mestizos.
Novales was napoleonic/Santa Ana like figure. He also participated the napoleonic wars. Philippines would be an empire at the start since he declared himself emperor in otl.
Cavite mutiny would transform Phils into military junta or a republic. It was a revolt about taxes.
Of the two, Novales revolt had more chances to succeed. He already entered intramuros only to be betrayed by his brother.
The difference between these two revolts and 1896 is the lack of participation of Indios and division of the Spanish forces. Not unlike in 1896/1898, you need great power help. in these two revolts, the Spanish forces were divided among loyalists and rebels so in a sense the great power help was the rebels themselves. With Indio support, the rebels can lose battles and still keep conscripting an army meaning there is a fallback. Without Indio support, you need to win every battle.
