Having flirted with several little TL's over the past few months, I'm going to poll which should be my first major TL

1.) One More Glass

A drunk Senator Ted Kennedy passes out on the couch after consuming too much alcohol at the Boiler-Room reunion party on July 18th 1969 meaning that the Chappaquiddick Incident never happens. This leads to EMK 1972 and beyond...

2.) Silver Foot Reborn

Ann Richards defeats George W. Bush for a second term as Texas Governor in 1994 meaning that W. retires from politics and eventually becomes Commissioner of Baseball. The 2000 election turns out a whole lot differently with Al Gore becoming President and a wide-ranging 2004 GOP field.

3.) One Hell of an America

Air Force One is shot down by an improvised SAM while leaving Florida on 9/11, at the same time both the White House and Congress are hit by separate planes killing the Vice President, Speaker and President pro tem leaving Colin Powell as the new President to lead America through it's worst crisis since Pearl Harbour.

Silver Foot Reborn.

There are too many crazy tls out there. I rarely read those, because quite frankly I'll just pick up a published author if I want to read straight up fiction. I prefer the Richards-Bush TL because it has a direct impact that's pretty significant, obviously. Also, it's not hard to imagine what would happen to Teddy if he didn't goof.

Silver Foot Reborn. If you want sources other than Time, I'd suggest Rove's C&C for an in-depth look at the Bush campaign. Hell, he provides at least half a dozen PODs in there.

Silver Foot please. I've always been interested in Bush as Commissioner of Baseball. The other parts of that scenario sound excellent as well.

That sounds worse than Pearl Harbor. For some reason I checked, I've never really looked into the locations before, but everyone seems to be in the right place. I don't know where Robert Byrd was, but he was probably in the Capitol (they were all pretty much in town anyway, for a planned joint session of Congress) where Hastert definitely is and Cheney is in the Situation Room. Powell is in Lima, Peru. "Safely" away from Washington during the entire event.

But yeah, I'd go with Silver Foot instead. It seems more fun, more realistic, and less distressing than OHOAA.

So Gore beats McCain in 2000? Granted, it's an early PoD...

They would be in different formats btw, 1.) Would focus on avoiding Chappaquiddick for the first page and then up to 1972 in the first two pages and the election followed by what happens in that election; 2.) Would focus on how the Governor's Race changed to allow a Richards victory and then skip forward to the start of the GOP primaries in 2000 without Bush and 3.) Would focus on the first few hours and days after 9/11 and then the first months of the Powell Presidency followed by 2004 and 2008.

Having looked at the ASB issues of Number 3, I've decided to change it to Hastert and Byrd being at a meeting with Cheney about the Joint address so that all three are in the White House and avoiding a plane hitting Congress otherwise I'd need to replace many Congressmen and Senators as well.
