My Christmas wish: A Green and Pleasant world

Hello all, Basically I'm looking for AH ideas that you feel match the title of this tread, and thats it no other conditions. So lets hear them.

How about we make the title ironic and actually be about a ruthless British Empire which by some point in the early twentieth century either governs or finlandises most of the world? :p

OK...

A FH thread, then, showing the fall of traditionally leftist parties and the rise of Green parties to replace them...

In America, the Democrats nominate some Blue Dog, and this angers progressives, which then switch to the Green Party and its Ross Perot-like candidate. The GOP win, but the Greens are now the second biggest party, due to the Ross Perot-like candidate funding Congressional candidates. They eventually win in 2020 thanks to the economy crashing in late 2017 and the GOP President acts too much like Hoover for his own good.

In Canada, the New Democrats get a lot of flak for the economy crashing in 2017, and due to the fact the NDP is too new to power, the Tories get back in, in 2019. Many view the NDP as no longer the Party of Jack Layton, but rather the new Liberal Party, so they defect to the Greens. Cue PM Elizabeth May in 2023.

In Britain, Labour gets back in power in 2015. Caroline Lucas is a part of the debates. The Lib Dems, seeing that their label is forever soiled, agrees to merge the Lib Dems with the Greens, creating the new Liberal Green Party. This works very well, and when the economy crashes under Labour in 2017, they get the flak and the Liberal Greens finally break through when Labour calls another election due to the LGs getting a lot of former Labour defectors, in 2018. Labour is now third, and the Lib Greens eventually gain power in 2023.

In France, the PS fail to fix the economy, and they get kicked out in favor of the UMP, which faces a lot of internal splitting... When the economy crashes in 2017, the UMP collapses and PS gets back in power. The economy fails to fix itself, and many leftists in PS defects to the EE-LV, which takes over when it becomes the biggest party.

"Finlandises"? Definition, please.

The term derives from the post-war Finnish-Soviet relations, refers to a situation when a powerful country continuously influences the policies of a weak country but has no formal/informal control of said country.
