Mutual Defence agreement instead of

In OTL the heads of state of the Scandinavian countries and Finland met at a conference in Stockholm the 18 of October, 1939. The outcome of this conference was a declaration of armed neutrality from all of the participating countries.

WI instead of just an armed neutrality a military Alliance or a Defensive Pact was formed between the four countries?

What repercussions will a Pact/Alliance like this have on the rest of the war and on the northern countries postwar?

I think the most important question is will the Pact/Alliance work in practice, we all know Swedish volunteers went in large numbers to serve in the Finnish armed forces. Would the Alliance do much difference when the probable Soviet invasion of Finland starts?

If this post has some grammatical errors in it or questions being asked in the wrong way i apologize. If the situation is so it can be blamed on me watching the match between Turkey and Germany at the same time.

The question is how Stalin reacts to this. I am fairly sure he considered the Finns a breakaway province of Russia at the time. This scandinavian defense pact may convince him not to invade (if not, he loses worse then in otl); or he may try to strike hard and fast. Then the British and Germans get drawn in to fight over the iron supplies...

Could the Pact handle a Soviet attack fast enough to resist an attack from Germany or Britain what do you think?

Doubtful, The Finns had actually the most numerous and best army in
1939, Sverige: we had managed to totally mutilate our armed forces in some really foolish disarmamentdecisions in the 20ies, Danmark: had no army to speak off and finally Norge: had some good mountain troops but then again few of them, what we did have was a decent fleet and a
substantial armament industry, so probably the timeline would look something like this: the first 2 months Finland are on their own except for
the Flygvapnet and some weapons transfer from Sverige, after this 2 months a couple off divisions from Sverige and some from Norge. The end result would probably have been the same. Now 1940 both the Germans and
the British are making threatening moves, lets say the Germans make the attack on
Danmark and Norge, Danmark cannot be hold but Norge is a different matter
If the Germans manage to come ashore they eventually have to face very combatexperienced troops from Finland and since the Germans had very limited sealift capacity at the time and not many large warships, which will mean that they cannot operate north of Gotland. The Germans will probably win in the long run but it will take a large troopcommitment and will disrupt their timetable considerably and of course the sheer size and terrain of both Norge and Sverige will not help them either.
