Mussolini makes it to Switzerland

So, near the end of the Second World War Mussolini was captured and shot by Italian partisans while attempting to flee to the Swiss border.

Let's say he and his entourage don't encounter the partisans and instead make it to the border. Will the Swiss let them in or turn them back? Would Mussolini be able to sneak across the border and from there take a plane to Spain? Would Franco protect him? What if he's turned over to the Western Allies?

being neutral, if mussolini snuck in and got caught he would have more chances of being interned, not turned in, by the swiss. Not sure the authority would appreciate him living openly.

The faster Mussolini can grow a full head of hair the safer he'll be, maybe some facial hair as well to be on the safe side.

If the Swiss know he's on his way they wont let him in ,They will take the pragmatic view that he is of no use to them ,any funds he has in Switzerland they already have ,and if he's not there to access them so much the better. By this stage it is obvious who is winning the war,so why antagonise the victors no point to that they may start asking questions about deposits from Germany:eek:

The Swiss were already shooting down Allied Fighters so I am not sure how much they cared about antagonizing them

He gets offed by an assassin, perhaps even kidnapped and smuggled back to Italy to stand trial.

The fellow was doomed any way you slice it. Washington, London and Moscow want his head on a pike, and a great deal of Italians want him dead for his role in the Italian Civil War of '43-'45.
