Mussolini flees to Spain

I understand; the thing is, that's incorrect. Occupied Belgrade was declared judenfrei in May 1942 IIRC, long after the city of Bydgoszcz, occupied Poland (December 1939), the territory of Alsace (July 1940), and the countries of Estonia (December 1941) and Luxembourg (October 1941).

Not saying you're incorrect (in fact I'm willing to doubt what I've read specifically on this specific fact) but I'm going to try to find multiple sources on this and see what is the common answer. If I'm wrong, then my bad and I appreciate you for giving me the correct answer. I'll update you on this later (perhaps through PM).

Though this hasn't got anything to do with the level of bad Tiso was so I'll stop discussing this but no being coy about it or rude to you.

While the "official story" on the holocaust in Tiso's Slovakia has more holes than Swiss cheese, I still wouldn't equate him to a raving loon like Szalasi, or Pavelic (a genocidal psychopath who stood out even within the Axis context).

He wasn't a loon like Szalasi but still an anti-Semitic brute.

Yeah he never went Pavelic level (thinking about Jasenovac makes my blood boil).

If he is not as bad as Szalasi then he is worse than Horthy.

Mussolini declared the Racial Laws in 1938 (Discrimination Crimes).
Mussolini personally ordered to use chemical weapons against Ethiopians in 1935 and approved many massacres against civilians and prisoners during the Italian Campaign (War Crimes).
Mussolini attacked treacherously France and United Kingdom in 1940 and Greece (and technically also Soviet Union and United States) in 1941 (Crimes against Peace).
Mussolini approved deportations of Jews and Italians that refused to support Axis during the Saló Republic between 1943 and 1945 (Crimes against Humanity).
So there was no way to save Mussolini from the gallows.
Winston Churchill said that "The killing of Mussolini avoided an Italian Nuremberg" so it's probable that also others Fascist leaders will be put in jail, as Pavolini (hanged), Farinacci (hanged), Graziani (hanged), Junio Valerio Borghese (sentenced to prison), Badoglio (sentenced to prison, exits earlier) and King Victor Emmanuel III (exiled).
