Music WI: Surviving Pac and Biggie

As it says on the tin, what would be the effects of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G surviving to the present day?

My suggestion is that they would still be a mega force in the industry. TuPac would be jailed for a few years, but then return with a big comeback album, featuring Changes and Do for Love. Biggie, however, would have bigger success, forming the Family with Puff Daddy, and the group score big success with the Victory album and a no.1 title track!

Does the Vegas shooting and everything that may allegedly have lead up to it still happen? If so does Knight survive? How badly is Shakur injured? If Vegas goes exactly per what actually happened and Shakur is just situationally luckier than he was in reality, for whatever reason I can see a few things happening. First, there have always been rumors of Bad Boy involvement in the shooting. Those rumors absolutely will reach Shakur, and he will believe them. So as far as Shakur is concerned Vegas is the second time Bad Boy has tried to kill him. And he's going to be talking an awful lot about that. You are going to see a lot of diss tracks referencing Vegas. All the shots Shakur takes at Nas in his final album get replaced by yet more taunts directed towards Bad Boy. However not all is well for Death Row Records. Snoop is still going to leave in 1997 and Knight is still going to prison for the Andersen beating, which may drag Shakur back to prison too. Life After Death may sound different. If Shakur goes to prison, you can bet the Bad Boy camp is going to be joking about it on record given that their favorite attack against Shakur was a claim that, to put the matter delicately, something had happened to Shakur in prison.
There is also his acting career to consider. Shakur will also attack Sean Carter with more force as he becomes a bigger star.

Considering the career trajectories of several contemporaries I could see them being more heavily involved in producing, finding new talent and other behind the scenes stuff more than doing more off their own new music by this point.

Also my thousandth post. :D

Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. dying were pretty much the killing blow to Gangsta Rap, making room for newer more pop friendly rap, horrorcore, and eventually "the club".

Keeping them alive might keep the genre alive well into the next decade.
