Music What ifs?

WI the Pistols had stuck with Matlock instead of Sid Vicious.

Matlock was the bass player and main songwriter and the band was not the "cant play their instruments " affair of hearsay, but a very tight and excellent Rock and Roll band. If you listen to Anarchy where Matlock is playing there is a lot of good musicianship.

I would guess the POD is ditch McLaren (RIP) and you get 2 or 3 good Pistols albums.

As a hardcore fan of PiL, I'm fine with how the Sex Pistols saga played out in real life.

Maybe Lydon still leaves eventually, but if the Pistols hadn't imploded, he doesn't form PiL with Keith Levene and Jah Wobble in '78 and we don't get First Issue and Metal Box.

Speaking of Public Image Ltd....

What if Jah either doesn't use the rhythm tracks from Metal Box on his 1980 solo album OR the band works around it and he isn't fired in 1980?

What if Keith Levene doesn't run off with the master tapes that became Commercial Zone, allowing PiL to complete the album as a complete unit, perhaps with Pete Jones staying on? I figure it ends up a lot tighter sounding than This Is What You Want...This Is What You Get.

Probably ends up with the title You Are Now Entering The Commercial Zone as was originally floated as the title for a proposed six track mini-album that was to contain tracks that ended up on This Is What You Want... and Commercial Zone anyway.

What if Michael Jackson didn't die?

I'll readily admit to liking the man's music, or at least some of it, but by the time Michael Jackson died, less than a year ago, his career was pretty much dead already. He was commonly viewed as charitably, a freak, and less charitably, well I'm feeling polite so I won't go into that. I very much doubt the London Concerts, however awesome they might be could have the full redemptive power of that his death has on public perception. In other words, my perception is Jackson's career would be slightly better than it had been, but he'd never again reach the heights of popularity he was accustomed to.

While were on the subject of Jackson I've got an idea based on some rumors I've heard before, so it here it goes. Michael Jackson marries Diana Ross in a private ceremony in 1984.
