Movie WI: First Blood ends with Rambo's death

Lets say the film "First Blood" ends with Rambo's death like in the book. How does this affect the action movie genre and the careers of Richard Crenna and Stallone? Does Sly go on to be a "serious" actor? Do films like Predator still get made?

Nah... I think a different kind of an action movie series would be made with Sly. Maybe instead of a vietnam veteran he could be something more typical like a: cop?

Hmm,,maybe he could have been the star of Lethal Weapon or Die Hard.

Well, the ending for the movie originally was that he'd shoot himself after his breakdown to Troutman in the hardware store. Then for whatever reason (For A Few Dollars More?), they went with him just getting hauled out by the police.

As for career paths, Stallone still had the Rocky series, and Crenna was a well respected actor anyway. It could be argued that when First Blood came out, the two had almost the same amount of name recognition.

To this day, First Blood, Copland, and Rocky are films I point to to show that Stallone can indeed act when given the right script. He can also write and direct, which is quite amazing considering his reputation as an 80s muscle man.

Well, at least we are saved from Rambo III where he goes and buddies up with the Taliban:eek::eek::eek::eek: (amazing what a difference a few years makes in the perspective of that movie).

When did logic stop Hollywood making sequels? I'd expect to see all the Rambo sequels made but with Stallone as Rambo's illegitimate son Rambo Jr who continues his fathers tradition of extreme violence.

They'll make the latter movies as prequels. The dates may not add up, but they'll use the Omen solution - fudge the dates (Damien is a kid in the late 70s, and US ambassador to UK by the early 80s).

Or, they in the next movie, they'll show him as having survived the First Blood incident, and just gloss over his earlier death (like Whistler in the Blade series)
