8 December 1984, Vince Neil wrecked his '72 Pantera, & Nicholas Dingley (drummer for Hanoi Rocks) was killed.
So WI Neil is killed, instead? Or also? What happens to Mötley Crüe? Who replaces Neil (if anybody)? Are their wider ramifications for R&R?
Burton, I can't speak to. As for the impact, that's the question, ain't itIf this event and the accident that killed Cliff Burton had happened differently the music of the second half of the 1980s is radically different.
Glad to oblige.Thanks
Any nominees? My thought was they'd get somebody who might be more Pete Best than Ringo (so to speak), rather than somebody who really sucked & the band just broke up, but I could see a breakup, if the chemistry proved wrong. (It happened often enough to other bands.)Seriously, had Bince Noel died AND if the band couldn’t find a great enough replacement, then I’d say the hair bands would’ve faded away a couple of years earlier.
I'd guess the effect of Ratt breaking up wouldn't be catastrophic... I'm unaware of them being influential (musically). It would obviously free the other members for other projects, or a new band...I seem to remember seeing rumors that Crue were considering Stephen Pearcy to replace him if Vince had gotten a longer jail sentence (this also would have broken up Ratt). That could work, but I dont know if Pearcy's vocals would fit the Crue that well. Dont think it would have much effect on the hair bands though, especially if Hysteria and Slippery When Wet still are released as is.
Thx for those, but I'll reserve comment; if it isn't more on the lines of Stevie Ray & Double Trouble, or Buddy Guy, or something, I'm not liking it enough to judge fairly.Well, here's an example of a crue song pre-crash, and a ratt song from the same timeframe:
Motley Crue: Looks that Kill:
Ratt: Round and Round:
