Which allied nation in WWI was the most powerful?

I would say the British Empire, which had the world's largest navy, the world's largest banking service, was the heart and soul of the world capitalist economy, had a stake in nearly all economies and massive world power projection.

However the USA was the world's largest economy (since at the very least 1900), was the world's largest manufacturer and world's largest internal consumer market. Also, unlike the UK, the US had vast resources located in its sovereign territory instead of illegally occupied nations, and had a large population loyal to itself while the British Empire had an enforced loyality even amongst the White Commonwealth.

At the outset? Great Britain and its British Empire, by a slim margin. By the end? The USA by a landslide.

According to the international standards of the day, what illegally occupied nations? You cannot judge the actions of the past by todays laws, if you did then the United States illegally stole the vast bulk of it's present territory. It's own President admitted the seizure of Hawaii was an illegal act.

When and what do you rate the most important?
At start on Land = French
Middle or at Sea = GB
Economical at the end = USA

How you define the question will give you different answers..
