Most interesting post-1949 German PoDs

In your opinion, what are the most interesting PoDs after the foundation of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1949?

The PoD can be political, sociocultural, economical or any other category, but political PoDs would be preferred.

  • Kurt Schumacher wins the 1949 federal election, possibly even reunifying Germany with more economic interventionism. I do recall @David_T pointed out that Stalin may have not been sincere in his offer for reunification and Adenauer turned it down, the debate over why he did has continued but his ideas about 'Prussians' could have played a part whilst his interest in European integration was another.
  • Kiesinger wins the 1969 election.
  • The "German Party" manages to branch out and become more popular, though this is difficult because the CDU mopped most of them up during the prosperity of the 1950's.
  • Helmut Schmidt as Chancellor during reunification, this could be achieved by Kiesinger (as stated above) winning 1969 and 1972 with Schmidt taking office in 1976.
  • Helmut Kohl eeks out an election win after the 1976 federal election.
  • East Germany violently collapses.
  • Schroder wins the 2005 election, butterflying away Merkel's narrow win.
  • Red Army Faction intensifies their struggle causing Schmidt (or whoever is in office) to become more authoritarian.
  • The Union wins 2002 and implements harsher reforms between 2003-2005.
  • The NPD somehow enters the Bundestag.
  • Willy Brandt isn't tarred by the scandal that forced him from power and stays in office.
These are all the ones I can think of anyway.

- the NPD enters the Bundestag in 1969 (they were 0,7% short of doing it)
- the Stasi doesn't bribe CDU politicians and the vote of no-confidence in 1972 wins against Willy Brandt and for Rainer Barzel (Brandt could launch a comeback, he was very popular)
- the SPD wins 1983 after the "treason in Bonn"
- the SPD allows ex-SED-members to join them in 1990
- Lafontaine becomes SPD-leader in 1993
- Schröder loses the vote of confidence over the Afghanistan war in 2001

East Germany democratized but stays independent for some reason. It would be interesting to see how far the cultures could diverge.
