Most Dystopic Alternate History.com Timeline

Most gratuitously dystopian ? Ad Astra Per Aspera. But it's basically all part of the joke.

For people of certain political beliefs, mine.

The ATL polities of your timeline at least have realistic depictions of human and political flaws and failings. You're not standing on a soapbox and beating people over the head with your opinions, but telling a genuine ATL story. And I respect that. I don't have much of an interest in your timeline, but it seems genuinely well-written.

I vote for you. Your timeline is both fascinating and extremely disturbing to someone that's a parent of a young child. Admitted the dehumanization that the human Coalition has had to adapt a result of the pressure of Skynet is a logical reaction for survival's sake, though. And this is coming from someone that was an SM Stirling fan from Under the Yoke on, so I don't mind reading a good dystopia.

Having said that, keep up the good work!

Thanks for the compliment. There is plenty more darkness on the way, I can assure you of that.

I don't really like dystopias at all, but I did do What's Happened to AH.com?, which basically lays out my own personal worst nightmare "Copyright/Anti-Piracy Gone Mad" scenario.

Basically: in response to Napster, the US Government passes a law that gives corporations near limitless power to enforce copyright and the ability to delist websites at will - up to and including Google. It's ASB, but as dark as I can imagine.

AWOLAWOT and WYWOAS are both very, very dark. I'm not sure if they dystopian exactly, because I seem to recall that at some point sanity is restored judging from some of the "interviews" in the "present" of the TL.

Yeah, another shout out for What Madness is This? There are two endings, one has a massive nuclear holocaust that wipes out human civilization, the other has the world being conquered by a fascist totalitarian America. That's pretty hard to top.

I'm sorry, which timelines are those?

The former is A World Of Laughter A World Of Tears, a TL where Walt Disney becomes the US President. No, seriously. It actually makes sense in context, and is an awful lot more dystopic than immediately obvious from the premise.
The latter is probably When You Wish Upon A Star; I don't recall what it's about, unfortunately.

When You Wish Upon a Star is the sequel/continuation of A World of Laughter, A World of Years.

Seriously? Yikes  I'll have to track that one down, sounds scary!:eek:

On this website that is Alternate History.com, there a number of timelines have been written which are, for all intents and purposes, dystopias. These are worlds were things in history, all based one or many PODs, have gone from bad to worse in ways that are almost beyond what most would consider imaginable. These timelines include, but are not limited too;

For All Time by President Chester A. Arthur
A World of Laughter by statichaos
Fear and Loathing on the Gumbo Trail/Rumsfeldia: Fear and Loathing in the Decade of Tears by Drew
We'll Meet Again by 037771
The Anglo-American/Nazi War by Calbear
What Madness is This? by Napoleon 53 and Ziodberg12 (I myself wrote some guest chapters and did some editing/compiling)

There may be others, but these are the ones I know off the top of my head.

Anyways, my question is, which of these timelines, or any others on this website, do you feel is or are the most dystopic?

No contest: "FaT" wins by a landslide. It makes "1984" look downright cheery by comparison.
