Most Different World with a Pod Post-1900

I was just thinking; the great thing about making PoDs a few hundred years back is that, after a century or two, you can just start making stuff up to get what you want. Since at that point the Butterfly Effect makes everything unknown, you can be creative and make totally unique and different things. Certainly a Roman PoD can end in a world filled with nations that never existed using arbitrary borders and bizarre governments and the whole thing will look perfectly plausible and it will be; that's the nature of the beast of AH.

But with a post-1900 PoD there's obviously less leeway, because we know all of the little details of the past one hundred years and there's less time to make changes.

So, as an exercise (a bit of a challenge) how plausibly different could the world be with a PoD after 1900? After 1945? With a plausible TL, could you make a world that's as totally unrecognisable as, say, Gurkani Alam or something?

How weird could this century have been?

Nuclear holocaust in 1962 or the 80s is an easy one, that could well redevelop into totally unrecognisable societies.
