Morrow fails to broker an end the Cristero War.

What would the long term effects of a failed attempt by Dwight Whitney Morrow?

So lets say Mr. Morrow fails to bring the two warring parties to agreement and the war escalates. The Mexican government continues its assualt of the Catholic Church and the Mexican peasantry and the Criteros continue to fight the Mexican government in a longer war, my question is who "wins"? Does the rebellion fizzle out? Do the Cristeros manage to overthrow the Mexican government? Do they split apart and fight among themselves? Or does the Mexican government give in to their demands? Is the uprising eventually crushed? The list of pontential effects is long and I'd like to here some opinions on the issue.
