Morganthau Japan, my home

*sigh* I suppose it's time for the truth.

I was taken from my home TL when I was just out of College. I get a few pages from various newspapers every year or so, but it rarely adds up. (imagine if clippings from The Independent, Pravda, and USA Today were your only glimpses of OTL) It's taken me a while to come to this decision, but I've come to think it's the best option: could you help me understand what may have become of my world?

In my history, much like yours, the USA fought & defeated the Nazis as well as the Empire of Japan. Even dropped two atomic bombs on Japan.

And then we Americans removed all industries, all factories, pretty much all signs of the 20th Century from the face of Japan.

Or, in the immortal words of China's then-President Mao, "The Great Khaan was off, though not by much."

And then, I had to move. I came here. So I don't really know what happened? Can you help me?

The snippets I know:
  • the Chinese Civil War resulted in both sides being forced to make a coalition government; it's been unified ever since.
  • after Stalin's death - earlier than here - Russia turned inward, aiming to perfect Communism before spreading it through the world.
  • Yemen is still part of the British Empire, South Africa is a Commonwealth.
  • Vietnam is part of the Khmer Prosperity Sphere.
