More Successful Greek War of Independence

I would think the best way to get a more successful Greek war of Independence would simple have the Greeks be more united. There were at least two civil wars during the War of Independence, and a third one almost erupted over the question of where to hold their next assembly. This meant that instead of fighting the Ottomans/Egyptians and securing their country, they were busy fighting themselves.

So WI at the outbreak of the Greek War of Independence instead of dilly dallying at Iasi, Alexander Ypsilantis marched directly on Braila and gained control of the Danubian Principalities. Would this in turn forces Russian support and intervention by the Great Powers? If so, does this intervention keep the Ottomans from bringing in Egyptian reinforcements leading to a much larger independent Greece?

The Phanariot Greeks were universally hated by the Romanians. For Ypsilantis to actually gain control over the Principalities is more or less ASB, and would be a direct challenge to Russia. This would cause the Revolt to be less successful, not more. If Egyptian reinforcements had not been available, it would have made the rebels able to gain control over the Morea, but it wouldn't have helped them move beyond - so in a sense that's a more successful revolt, but I think you meant one with more territory. If anything, it would be less in that case, because it would end the war earlier and lead to fewer territorial concessions from the Ottomans, who in OTL just wanted the whole thing to be over.

I think the Greeks would had been in a better position to have a more or less autonomous status within the Ottoman empire instead of outright independence, you know the situation that eastern Rumelia had before the Bulgarians seized it from the Turks. I am sure the Sultan would prefer that over needless violence and uproar.

Since the only reason the Greek revolt succeeded in the first place was the intervention by the British, French AND Russians it would take quite a bit for the Greeks to do this much better on their own.

Interesting link with the comment on how the Greek position in Salonika didn't recover until the 20th Century, somehow failing to mention the improvement consisted of expelling/murdering the Turkish population. Irony...

Almost everyone, even the ones leading the Greek war of Independence, knew that the great powers needed to get involved eventually. However the situation was probably worsened because the Greeks spent more time fighting eachother over control of a collapsing state rather than securing themselves.

It's not a very patriotic moment when you nearly collapse trying to figure out where to hold your next assembly. :p
