More revived ancient states post-WWII

Israel is a big example of a historical nation that was recreated in statehood following the shakeup of WWII. I read a very good AAR where France recreates 'Phoenicia' out of Syria, Lebanon and Cyprus. Of course, that AAR takes place in a timeline where those nations were never formed in the first place, but whatever.

Could any such states have been formed in OTL?

I will give a virtual cookie to anyone who plausibly re-forms the Roman Empire (at its maximum historical extent).

IIRC, wasn't the idea of a reconstituted Lorraine to physically separate France and Germany after WWII brandied about by the Americans for some time.

Well, one could plausibly see more post-colonial governments take up the mantle of their pre-colonial counterparts. Successor states, if you will.

Yup: Mali. (Not Ghana, it's in the wrong place.) Of course, modern Mali is a lot smaller than Mansa Musa's empire.
