More post-WWI nations

I can't see it existing in most TLs. Why wouldn't it be absorbed by Poland or Lithuania?

Because that means war, which it did in OTL. It would be a buffer state, like Belgium and Afghanistan and Uruguay.

It's hard to form lots of little nations out of the chaos and "last man standing" of 1919.
OK, Wilson and assorted politicians are blown up by a German assassin, and the next president is overcome by common sense. Instead of blowing all the money on propping up every anticommunist gang of right wingers in Europe, from Germany to Greece, he and Congress set up a MittelEuropean army using the POWs they already have, highgrading out the minorities in their home province types.
An example of those would be Serbs in Bosnia, Bosnians in Serbia, Hungarians in Rumania, Albanians in Serbia, Italians in Slovenia, Russians in Ukrania, Vlachs, Jews, and Gypsies everywhere.
Then the new country puts a tax on land and uses it to buy out local minorities and selling the land at a discount to local majorities. Eventually all the land is in one ethnic groups hand in each area. Ethnic cleansing by real estate dealers.
Your could get a lot of little countries that way. How many ways can you persuade people to hate each other? Look at Orthodox vs. Catholic vs. Muslim Serbs. Not to mention Macedonian and possibly Jewish Serbs? Protestant Serbs?

What I don't even

I'm going to try to make this my last bump. We've listed most of the possibilities, though I'm sure there's a few more here.

Now, it's time to talk plausibility. Which of the ones mentioned are the most likely to have existed?
