The Normans proved to be very effective conquerors of territory in the 11th and 12th centuries, progressively annexing Saxon England, Byzantine Italy, Arab Sicily, large parts of Arab Syria, and Celtic Ireland and Wales. Though I suppose by 1140, OTL was already a bit of a Norman-wank, is it plausible to have any more Norman kingdoms established? I wondered about...

1. The obvious one is a Norman Roman Empire, thanks to Robert Guiscard's efforts against Alexius Comnenus. How would the Normans react to holding the title of Roman Emperor, in direct challenge to the Papacy and Henry IV?

2. Norman Tripolitania/Tunisia? Well, it's only a short hop across the Sea from Sicily, and the Normans proved themselves perfectly adept at naval invasions.

3. Norman Scotland? Perhaps as a rival power to Norman England, or maybe an allied state, leading to an Act of Union 600 years early.

4. Norman Anatolia? I believe in the wake of the First Crusade, several Norman principalities were set up in Eastern Anatolia, but perished due to lack of support from the Byzantines, who were busy consolidating the lands they had regained further West. Could we see these states survive?

Any other ideas for Norman Kingdoms?
