More lifeboats on Titanic

Okay...Titanic still hits the iceberg and sinks but suppose White Star was more cautious and decided to put the maximum number of lifeboats aboard.

No doubt this would have an effect on the death toll....

The Titanic would not become the symbol that it did in OTL.

On the other hand, the Titanic did not have standard evacuation procedures, even some of the life boats they had were launched without being completely full. More life boats will make the carnage less, but does not completely fix the problem.

Hopefully they wouldnt have tried to keep so many 3rd class men below decks untill it was too late seriously reducing the high death toll for those passengers.

However the Titanic only lasted about 2 hours once they actually realised the ship would founder so I imagine many of the extra boats wouldnt be launched before the ship foundered.

So while i imagine the death toll is reduced, (hopefully the women and children in 3rd class who died will mostly escape) Its hard to say. If the any boats left on board after 2:05 are cut loose and fall to the sea people could climb into them when the ship founders.

Anybody surviving Titanic is a butterfly. They could invent something, bring world peace or world war.

Or more likely live a completly normal life, without making a name for themselves, however they marry someone who in OTL married someone else, who will now have to marry someone else, and the cycle begins.

Fuck all most likely. The reason I am saying this is because as it was, even with the small amount that she had in OTL, the last few lifeboats bearly got away in time and the last two colapsiable were washed off the deck.

The Titanic was a luxury liner and of the 1500 who died, some may have wielded wealth and power. If somebody with the power and influence of a corporate CEO or senator is suddenly taken out of history, there will be an impact. Estates pass to successors earlier than anticipated, now out of control of the "personal power" of the age 50+ executive. Given the closeness of WWI, I can't help but think the Titanic had impact for the next ten years.

According to Wikipedia Astor was worth 37 billion dollar(counted for inflation etc) and his wife had two sons with a childhood boyfriend, those two men wouldnt be born, but i dont know how much influence they had on history since they have no Wikipediapage.

John Jacob Astor IV that was born after the disaster could have inherited more than 3 million if his dad was still alive

Astors daughter might have married other wealthy men

The big change is Vincent Astor. After the disaster he dropped out of Harvard and began Philantropy and among other things built new housing in Bronx and Harlem. He was married 3 times and his last wife got all his money. The big lawsuit that came at the end of her life wouldnt be there.
All of this checked on Wikipedia

Straus would be owner of Macys longer.

and so on.

One of the 3rd deck passengers could have gotten a son that joined the US army in WW1, got a promotion and went on to be a general in ww2 instead of someone else and thus changing the world.

For example, the shipbuilder Thomas Andrews might have escaped with his life and built other shipss

I wonder if a couple of other ships having their wireless on in the middle of that night might have made a bigger difference.

California HAD them on, unfortunally the crew manning them had gone to bed and that leads me to another question. How did the telegraphcrew feel for the rest of their lives knowing that had they stayed up a bit longer California would have recived the SOS and helped Titanic

The trouble is that even in the daylight hours it took the California two hours to get to the point where Titanic sank. At night it most likely would mean that even if the California reaceved Titanic's SOS call, most of the people in the water would have been dead anyway by the time the California had arrived.

But with more lifeboats (even if they just float off the deck unloaded) some of those people in the water wouldn't have been, they'd have been possibly able to climb into a boat--raising their survival time by a signifigant factor.

More lifeboats also mean more weight for the ship, meaning that the ship may have been slower. Which in turn would butterfly away the collision with the iceberg.
And so the Titanic keeps travelling up until sunk during WWI by a German U-Boat.

Probably about it. Hollywood would have been short of a theme.Maybe the Lusitnaia would have become the focus for films. Has there been a non documentary film about the Lusitania?

Lightollers incompetence lead to boats going away half full i.e there is a difference between women and children first and women and children only Murdoch got more people off but a lot more people would have got off and maybe there would have been more flexibility about who went. Stanley Lord may have had an easier time. The Carpathia would still recieve the deserved credit for picking up the survivors
