More intense air operations 1939

Even U.S. production wasn't unlimited, so that's a start, but not a perfect solution. As said, if there's more a/c from the U.S., there must needs be less of something else...

Also, while I don't opposed cancelling Covenanter, I'm not sure it makes any difference here...

The P36 was widely exported. Curtiss could build a few more. We're essentially talking about a few more H75 a bit earlier and a faster introduction for the D520, as a result of the French realising just how bad the MS406 was.
In 39 they might even buy Re2000 from Italy, they nearly sold Caproni recce aircraft to the RAF:eek:

How much slack production was there? (IDK.) I presume you can substitute some OTL export sales.

I like the idea, but I have my doubts the Ad'lA would get a clue any quicker, so IDK if it has an impact.

They got pretty busy in May 40. A lot of downed MS406 in late September 39 would have been an eye opener. The MS406 was another one of those aircraft, like the MC200, that looked a lot better in peace time purely turning mock fights, were nobody was slashing and diving.
Few airforces apreciated the idea of the vertical fight before the LW showed them how, and as a consequence failed to apreciate just how important diving speed (and pure "get out of trouble" straight line speed) was

Curtiss delivered 100 H75A1, 100 H75A2, 135 H75A3 and 81 out of an order for 285 of the A4 version. It was also producing Hawks for other countries. With a paying costumer insisting on delivery, I would not think it impossible to have all the ordered A4 in France in time for May40 action.
The french A4 had the 1200HP engine and six 7.5mm MG. Combat experience might have led the french to order them with 4 .50 HMG, wich would make them a better figther.
