More Defined Greek Dialectical Areas

When looking up Greek dialects, the first thing that comes up is the Ancient Greek dialects (Doric, Attic-Ionic, Aeolian, Arcado-cypriot). Searching up modern dialects, and I can't seem to find defined dialectical areas outside of the Pontic, Mariupolitan, Cypriot and other outlier Greek areas. There were a few areas in which there were shared dialectical features but no defined regional variants like Cretan, Peloponnesian, Thessalonian, etc. Does Modern Greek have regional dialects in the same vein that French has with its Champenois, Orleanais, etc dialects? If not, why is it like that, especially given the mountainous and archipelagic terrain it seems likely that it would have divided into more concrete dialects? What PoD could have changed it so that more Greek dialects appeared outside of the outlier regions?

For one, the biggest change is simple: Prevent the rise of Koiné Greek, because that was the great leveller of dialects in favor of Attic.
