More Central Powers in WW1

instead of thinking of all the countries that could join the central, it is worth noting which countries could stay (more) neutral
I already mentioned the US, who's staying neutral would me disaster for the entente
Italy staying neutral, instead of joining the entente would make a difference already.

I'll add Romania, if the Brusilov offensive had been a failure or at least not as big a success they would stay neutral as well. That would save Falkenhayn's job with consequences including the Hindenburg program, unrestricted submarine warfare and German ambitions as he did not believe in total victory anymore, unlike Ludendorff.

Obviously Belgium and Luxembourg would be neutral if Germany decides on a Russia first strategy for whatever reason and doesn't attempt the Von Schlieffen Plan.

They were Neutral, that was the issue, although if Germany does go for a Russia first policy and delays an invasion of France, the French could march straight through South Belgium and Luxembourg like the Germans to overpass the Vosges (I remember reading somewhere of the French equivalent to the Schlieffen Plan). An invasion would turn Belgium against France, and could strain relations with Britain.

The Swiss are an interesting choice, however it's unlikely the Central Powers or Entante would go through thanks to the mountains for what would be relatively little gain and their bank accounts were all there.
