Just a little thought I figured I'd ask opinions on.

It's generally acknowledged that Poe's Dupin was the start for the modern detective story (Although there have been detectives and themes from detective stories used before hand) unfortunately Poe only wrote three Auguste Dupin stories
"The Murders in the Rue Morgue"
"The Mystery of Marie Roget"
And "The Purloined Letter"

Do you think there would be any significant changes to detective literature if Poe had continued writing stories using Dupin? Especially if he followed the system he'd used for "Marie Roget" which some critics considered it less of a story in it's own right and more of an essay from Poe on what he believed happened in the case of 'Mary Rogers' a New York missing persons case, Mary Rogers herself was an impetus to modernize New York's police force in the 1800s.

Perhaps if he keeps using actual crimes as inspiration for mysteries to have Dupin solve he could also pioneer the 'True Crime' genre?

If he lived long enough to create a canon of stories for C. Auguste Dupin comparable to Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories could there be any significant impact?

Probably not as exciting as the usual timelines that come about here, but I thought it could have minor implications worth discussing...and those minor implications can add up over time.
