WI the RLM had allowed Heinkel to continue with their Class I jets instead of directing them to do the follow-on Class II HeS 011? The HeS 30 is considered the best of the 3 Class I German engines; it was lighter, more powerful and had better fuel consumption than the other 2.

I don't know if Heinkel could have delivered production engines to aircraft any earlier than the other 2, but even if not having a 3rd line of jets in 1944 would have been very handy. Perhaps the Jumos could have all gone to the Me262 and the Ar234 could have had the Hienkels, so more of both planes could have gone into combat in the last 6 months of the war.

As for the rare metals needed for jets; how much rare metal was going into the thousands of obsolescent aircraft engines that were being built every week in Germany in 1944-5?
