Mongols destroy the Delhi Sultanate

The Mongols quite famously crushed countless enemies, sacked city after city, and built the largest land empire the world had ever seen.

One power however successfully defeated them many times. This power was the Delhi Sultanate.

One ruler by the name Alauddin Khaljii successfully defeated several Mongol attempts to seize Delhi.

What if anywhere from 1222 to 1260 the Mongols defeated the Delhi Sultanate and successfully pushed into the Indian heartland?

How long could the Mongols have successfully ruled India? What would the consequences have been for India itself in the long term?

A lot of this depends on when the Mongols destroy the Delhi Sultanate. Early on, the Sultanate was quite weak, and if destroyed, I suspect that Islam and Indo-Islamic culture would rapidly die off. However, the Sultanate as well as Islam strengthened in this period as a result of refugees from Iran and Turan fleeing the Mongols. I suspect an early Mongol invasion would result in the death of Islamic culture and Mongols assimilating into Indic and Hindu culture, while a later invasion would result in the Mongols assimilating into Indo-Islamic culture.

Furthermore, the Mongols would have to spend time subjugating India, time at the expense of other conquests. So, no Mongol invasion of Europe, perhaps?
