Mongol Tributary Holy Roman Empire

What if there was a successful push ( and enduring rule) of Mongol armies into The HRE and Central Europe. What if German States become tributary to a victorious and preserved Mongol fraction etc. Mongol Empire ? How would serfdom and feudal system be affected ? Would it be comparable to Russian-Mongol relationship ? How would Central European/German culture be altered? For instance I would see a delayed German Eastern colonisation thus no Teutonic knights and no Prussia.

Probably ends a bit like the tributary Russians - once the Mongols are weak enough a local leader will establish themselves as the sole ruler and renounce tribute.

Would it even be an "empire" anymore? I'm sure the whole idea of an "emperor" would be questioned, given all princes have to pay tribute to the hordes.

Yes, it would be realistic, that an emperor figure would be to weak to hold together the HRE in such a case. The princes would be on their own maybe cight with the help of the Mongols against each other ( like it hapoened during Magyar invasion). In other threads regarding a occupying Mongol horde in Europe it was suggested, that the Mongol leaders might convert to Catholizism themself and a Mongol emperor emerges. Would be interesting what the Pope has to say .The Byzantine Emperor would be finally
the only true Roman heir left in case the HRE dissolves as an Empire. Maybe even no 1204 imconquest of Constantinople ?

The only way I could see this happening is if the HRE becomes a nominal tributary for the sake of opening trade relations, probably in a way that the Holy Roman Emperor doesn't actually know that's what's happening (sort of like the trade relationship between Japan and Korea on Tsushima).
