Modern Kingdom of Israel: Possible or ASB?

Basically what it says in the title. Could a Kingdom of Isreal (instead of the modern state of Israel) be created or is it completely ASB? Maybe the British install a Jewish King in Palestine, similar to the Kingdom of Iraq and Emirate of Transjordean. Or maybe, at the time of independence, the Israeli government decides they need to be led by a descendant of King David. IDK if either are likely but I would like to get other people's opinions on this subject.

The answer is a possible Jewish convert from the Solomonid dinasty of Ethiopia. But this opens a whole new can of worms (or ASBs) considering the issues many Falashas (Black Jews) already face.

The latter. The majority Labor Zionists were socialists, with about as much interest in having a monarchy as their government as in having sumo wrestling as their national sport. The Revisionist Zionists were AFAIK not much different.

Except Britain never established any sort of Jewish government in Palestine, always deferring to the Arab majority.

Or maybe, at the time of independence, the Israeli government decides they need to be led by a descendant of King David.
Except that they couldn't possibly locate a verifiable descendant of David or determine which of the possible descendants was the most senior.

For all intents and purposes, it's ASB. Most of the early leaders of pre-state Israel were socialists. They had no real love for monarchy, and wouldn't want one imposed on them (nor would Britain be willing to put a monarchy there). The most you could see happening is if Israel is part of the Commonwealth as a republic and goes with Elizabeth II as Head of the Commonwealth.

Maybe if the Ottomon Empire collapses and is subsequently divided at an international conference, with Palestine going to the German Empire and when they decide to create a state of Israel they decided to put a Jewish member of the German nobility on the throne.

Probably the only way this is possible is if there is a Jewish kingdom which survives the fall of the Roman Empire or something like it. A large Jewish population is never purged from Judea in 70 AD after a rebellion. The province breaks away as Roman and later the Byzantine Empire crumbles and recedes. All of the land is eventually conquered as part of the Muslim Empire. Under the Muslim Empire, the Jews are protected by a system of tolerance through the transformation into the Ottoman Empire.

A royal family that serves in governance has presided over the Jewish homelands since ancient times. After World War I when the Jews rise up against the Ottomans as part of helping the British, they are in turn granted their independence as a free and sovereign kingdom. The monarchy eventually becomes ceremonial and based on a constitution, but remains in power until the modern day.

It's still hated by so many Arab states, especially for its support of the West in the Great War.
