Modern Beatles Analogue

Pick a band that mostly makes music for young girls (a boy band). Turn them into an innovative, creative, and original band. Kinda like the Beatles did. A supermajority of the band must stay the same, though they can rename themselves.

Well Nickelback sings songs that a lot of people find meaningful (mostly teenagers), but they're anything but innovative. So maybe your TL could consist of Nickelback singing a song that doesn't sound like all their others:rolleyes:

I'll post that idea in the ASB forum. :D

Although, their really early stuff isn't that bad. Of course, thats in large part because, being their early stuff, it couldn't sound like anything else they'd already done.

I don't quite think you know how the Beatles started out. They were a rough raw bunch playing in the lowest dives of Liverpool and Hamburg. Definitely not for young girls ! That only started after they hit the big time.

I know how they started (quarry men, pete best, stuart sutcliffe, and all that good stuff). But when they got big, it was mainly off the screaming girls. Look at how many covers were in their early albums. I love the Beatles, mind you, one of my favorite (if not the) bands.

I've often thought Barenaked Ladies has a similar quantity of... innovation and different "sounds" to them. Honestly, though, I have a hard time imagining them crossing the hordes-of-screaming-girls corner. You'd have to switch out half the band and probably replace them with younger and better looking alternatives.

a list of boybands that can be something innovative in the future : In Italy , Finley ( pop - punk ) and Gemelli Diversi ( pop - rap , one of the band members is the brother of another singer , J - Ax of Articolo 31 , a rap band with some humor inside ) , in the rest of the world ,
Fall Out Boy ( they are not a boyband , but their fans are
mostly screaming girls ) and My Chemical Romance .

Ahoj!
Beatles were innovative?

She loves you yeah, yeah!

Innovative, my foot.

Borys

You're kinda proving my point. They made light poppy stuff early on, and then got bolder later. I started listing some of their more innovative late stuff, but the list got pretty long, so I just did their albums, and that list was pretty long, too.

Suffice to say, listen to Revolution. Or, if you really want innovative, Revolution 9 (thats a fucked up track, right there).

Radiohead were pretty generic stuff to begin with- Creep despite being good is just your typical teen angst thing. They are the closest I'd say apart from the majority of their fans being girls- they were still poppy though.
