Here's a question for those more familiar with American Civil Rights movement than I. In OTL King applied to a number of conservative seminaries in his area, but was denied because of his race. However, not all conservative seminaries were so closed minded, two springing to mind are Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and Covenant Seminary in St. Louis. Say he had applied and been accepted there, and then chose to attend one of those schools instead of the more Liberal Crozer Theological Seminary? (As Covenant Seminary is more closely affiliated with The Presbyterian Church I'd wager that the more broadly affiliated Westminster would be a more plausible selection.)
Now IMO such a choice could greatly alter King in TTL. Though some of the influences that made him who he was in OTL would still be there, others would not, and most likely new (conservative) ones would be added. I have my own ideas about what could possibly happen but I'd like to hear other people's thoughts...
