Miracle of the Seagulls

1850

Johnathan looks into the heavens above. He smiled a pleasent glow in his eyes. He folded his hands and uttered a prayer.
He prayed not for his family, church, or even this, the wonderful town of Salt Lake City.

No, Johnathan prayed for the poor souls out on the plains.

In the desert, they could barely find water for irrigation or drinking. The summers boiled, the winters were crop-killing, but the Latter Day Saints had found a place away from the Insect cloud of Sin destroying agriculture East of the Mountains.

Just a few years before, God had driven some pests away with a swarm of Gulls, ensuring Salt Lake City was a Land for these Men and their families.

No such luck for the settlers back east.

Locusts repeatedly attacked them once every five or so years. From what Johnathan heard, God was so displeased with these people, that the locusts took children to his Heavenly palace.

Many people, from the foothills of the Rockies to the Mississipi River, were begining to starve.

No one deserved to be tortured in such a way, Johnathan thought.

He stood up, and surveyed the meadow of sparse shrub he stood in. He turned around and returned Home.

I was thinking of Biblical Plagues, and how people interpreted different events: A Plague that only affects a single race?

Then I remembered the Miracle of the Seagulls, and thought of how to apply Biblical Plague themes to a relatively modern context.

Comment,
:confused:I don't get it.

Do you think that Salt Lake area was the only place that had gulls?
