And create the Miners Republic

governmental system:

Every town is based around a mine, all people not by a mine have to move to them, elections are made in each mine to government of the mine, which in turn runs the town.

All miners belong to the Local Militia, which combine into national Militia as needed, other groups abound, but aren't legal (given a slap on the wrist).

Non miners can engage in market activities, unless they hire labor outside of the family. Non miners elect on rep the the Miners Council churches send head preist

the county government gets from every town, 2 miners reps and one non miners rep, churches send their highest priest in the county.

the national government is the same but with 5 miners from each town and 2 non miners

the nation government is the same, but every mine sends 5 reps and every non mining population sends 2 reps.

courts are juried with no judge, law is based on restitution to the harmed.

at war with the US

They get stepped on, hard. If they manage to fight off the army the first time then they'll simply come back with machine guns and artillery and do the job properly.

Uh, I think you misinterpret the miners intentions. They wanted to strengthen unions in the region, not secede from the union. Besides even if they defeat the initial waves of troops their is no way they would last forever.

Yea, and the orginal intent of the american revolutionaries was to get lower taxes, they secceeded after the King was a total asshole to them.

How good was the USSR at this point? I'm thinking that it becomes a spanish civil war type thing, international brigades, the focal point for global communist attention at that point.

How does one get these International Brigades into Pennsylvania?

With difficulty I assume.

OT, but I was hoping on seeing the shortened thread title from the main page ("Miners win the battle of...") that the remainder was going to say "Orgreave". Which, if no-one gets it, is a reference to the 1984-85 British miner's strike.

You are also vastly misinterpeting the politics of most of the miners. In contrast to anti union propaganda, hard core socialists amongst the unionized miners were almost non existant.

The goal was simply to unionize the mines in the hold out counties of Mingo and Logan and then probably to unionize other hold out counties in Kentucky. The establishment of a seperate socialist government, or socialist guerilla warfare was never even a remote goal of the strikers and attempts to make either of these a goal were going to fail badly. As for International Brigades, the strikers were reluctant to even have foreign speakers, let alone foreign fighters.
