Disregarding the political obstacles, what benefits would Turkey been able to contribute to the Axis cause if they joined before Barbarossa?

At first, grab oil fields in the ME and caucausus.

Later on, contribute another route for allied invasion.

Seriously, Turkey was in no shape to be involved in a modern war. They would have made Italy look good.

Hmmm, I think its likely to change the front(s) of the war in the East. Also, I think it would allow for more options in the Med. and Black Seas.

Perhaps the Italian navy is able to evade British bombers and join the Luftwaffe in clearing the Black Sea of Red ships. Eventually opening up amphibious options and operations in the Caucausus region. They can land and supply German troops in a wide variety of inconveiniant places.

Unlikely but if German troops poured north from Turkey it opens up an entirely new front for the Soviets. Not sure if that helps or hurts Germany really. I think it does open up some really interesting options for the Axis (Germany) around the Black Sea.

The British are forced to place much more troops, guns, supplies, and attention to Persia and Iraq regions which in turn greatly effects North Africa and Rommels fortunes.

What kind of member of the Axis are they? Are they fully offering troop and whatever limited supplies Turkey has or just paying lip service to the Axis?
