Militarized rearmed Turkey joins axis, how bad

WI Turkey had a dictator who had been efficient and rearmed. If such a Turkey declared war on Britain and Russia in the summer of 1942 does that threaten the outcome of the war?

If Turkey's military has been sufficiently modernized and rearmed at this point, then yes they are a credible threat, which would require both the British and Soviets to allocate more men to defend against Turkey. The problem lays with getting Turkey to that point in time to join in and make an impact in 1942.

Perhaps Greece retains Eastern Thrace (minus Istanbul) after the Greco-Turkish War, which leads to Turkey feeling the need to constantly be on guard as the Megali Idea will be more popular in Greece, thus a larger army which is modernised when possible... Though of course this would have butterflies that may do away with WWII altogether.

You'd need something along the lines of a humiliated and angry Turkey post WWI, and someone akin to a Turkish Hitler or Mussolini to militarize Turkey. I would think so anyway.
