Michelle Bachman as President?

What if Michelle Bachman had won the GOP nomination for 2000 election. Who would have been her VP?

Could she have won?

No, because no-name representatives (she didn't get famous until her attacks on Obama) don't win a major party's nomination for the Presidency, much less the office itself.

but what if she had been famous for some reason? for instance during the clinton years???

Michele Bachman had just been elected to the Minnesota State Senate in 2000. I doubt she was known outside of the state of Minnesota in 2000 making it very improbable that she would be a nominee for President for the Republican Party.

You need to give politicians time to develop political experience at the state level before they can seek national office.

A better question is does she have a chance in the 2012 presidential election.

Would she had a chance against Palin in 2012?

I just don't see Sarah Palin being a contender in the 2012 Republican presidential election. She was widely parodied during the 2008 campaign including some very memorable sketches on "Saturday Night Live" in which comedian Tina Fey portrayed her.

Republicans protected her because she was chosen by their nominee John McCain. I believe that the "Draft Palin" movement within the Republican Party is just a fringe group that has gotten more media coverage than has support within the Republican Party.

I would be very surprised if Bachmann or Palin are going to even have Presidential campaigns in 2012.

First off, Bachmann wasn't even involved in national politics at the time.

Secondly, no she wouldn't win, or atleast I hope not. She is, like ZaphodBeeblebrox said, a dangerous moron, and would alienate all but the most insane far-right Republicans. I still think its amazing that she's from my home state, the only state to have vote for both Mondale and Dukakis (since DC isn't a state).
