Mexicowank

I was curious, as I have seen many America wank threads, I wondered about a Mexico wank. How would it be possible to get a large and powerful Mexico in the world.

I'm thinking of it looking a bit like that although maybe jutting out to Panama and parts of Southern Canada, with some Caribbean holdings and possibly also Florida and West Florida.

I would be interested in seeing if it can be done where the Civil War causes North America to have on it (right now) a CSA which would not be as powerful as it could have been with the loss of basically any Gulf of Mexico ports, a shrunken USA bing more midwestern and New English, a larger and more powerful Mexico, and an independent Texas, playing politics with those three nations.

Maybe there could be some playing with Louisiana, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada, either.

Pair it with my "Knox's Treaty" idea (still in development). The US government uses the Supreme Court after 1792 to enforce its Indian treaties, fining states heavily that allow settlers to encroach on Indian land. FF to 1820s, you have a whiter and New Englandish sort of North and a south that is seething with resentment. Butterfly that to a civil war in the 1830s?? The USA splits in half before it can annex Texas or conquer New Mexico/California.

Mexico becomes a serious condender for the Oregon Country and manages to grab everything south of the lower Columbia (roughly OTL State of Oregon) while the US gets OTL Washington and (more-or-less) Idaho; Brit Columbia & Vancouver Island still go to the British.

Mexico's stronger position allows it to intervene in the Guatemalan-El Salvadorean war of 1863, taking possession of most of Guatemala in the process.

1870s, Mexico establishes a federation of Central American nations with itself as the key player, establishing Mexican hegemony in Centroamerica.

Or: Mexico's invitation to the Central American nations in the 1820s to come, join our new Empire is accepted. Unfortunately I still don't think such an Empire could beat the USA in the 1840s, barring any other PODs.

That picture does not shows a mexicowank... It's easy to make Mexico looks like that: throw out manifest destiny, make the US weaker. Just like Porifírio Diaz used to said: "Pobre México. Tan lejo de Dios, tan cerca de Estados Unidos."

For a real mexwank, I aways like to think about a portuguese-like flee of the king of Spain to the richest of his colonies, New Spain.
