Mexico and USA in the entente

i always hear that Mexico would join the central powers, but what would happen if Mexico does a complete 180 and joins the entente and yes i know that Mexico was in deep in its revolution and couldn't send in troops. i more interested in what would be the fallout; how would this effect Mexico and usa relations and Mexico German relations with Mexico stabbing Germany in the back after the zimmerman telegraph?

Mexico would not join the Central Powers. The Zimmerman Telegram offered them land that had already been settled and consolidated by the Americans. The last time Mexico really went to war with the US was in the Mexican American War and it ended terribly for Mexico. Joining the Central Powers was never an option. Even if they did, it wouldn't end well for Mexico, since the United States clearly supported the Entente.

OTL Carranza was able to get diplomatic recognition of his government from the US in exchange for guaranteed neutrality so the US wouldn't have to worry about losing Mexican oil.

So having accomplished this I'm not sure what more the Carranza government would expect to get out of formally entering the war on the other side.

Enigmajones and Rightho jeeves thank you for answers but what would be the relations between mexico and countries in the entente and central up until ww2?
