Medieval Cities

Out of interest were there any of Chinese or Indian mega cities that weren't cited on a massive Delta's i.e. Ganges or Pearl River Delta? We know that the incredibly fertile Nile had far more to do with Alexandria and Cairo growing so enormous than secrets the Egyptians had so maybe the same applies in Asia. Just a thought.

None of the major Indian cities was on a delta. Delhi and Pataliputra were on the main courses of the yamuna and ganga respectively and Vijayanagar was on a single river

And a lot of places in India, and perhaps Central Asia, but all of those were pretty much off the radar of medieval Europe. A reaonably educated European had a conception of where Cairo and Baghdad, Constantinople and Cordoba were, at least. He probably wqould never have heard of Kaifeng, Delhi or Khwarizm.

In a Late medieval timeframe it was actually possible, though by no means assured. Khwariszm might actually have been known somewhat. China was largely "something is there" at most before the Mongol era I think (not the case for Muslims of course).
