He ran for mayor of San Francisco in 1979 and his campaign was largely a joke, though there were some serious issues he highlighted. He's more likely to win the Green Party's nomination in 2000, and much more likely to be selected as Nader's running mate.
- If he doesn't require businessmen to wear clown suits.
- If he doesn't propose putting up statues of Dan Smith (for people to egg or not, it's still unpopular and a waste of money)
- Instead of banning cars outright, perhaps having some type of congestion charging or exclusion zones and having more money put into public transport.
Then perhaps he has more chance. Incidentally, who came third? Joe Hughes or David Scott? I know wiki says Sister Boom-Boom on Jello Biafra's page, but he didn't appear on the ballot in 1979 (
