This is my first TL proper and the inaugural update will be later tonight. Feedback, help, and criticism are welcome on this thread, in private messages, and on the mother thread for this TL which can be found here:

In this TL, Juarez is killed just before the French coalition invades and the Battle of Puebla is a European victory. When Napoleon III attempts to reclaim debt from the fractured government, shrewd Maximilian (with the help of power hungry Imperial convert, Porfirio Diaz) takes advantage of public sentiment to firmly gain a hold on the people of Mexico, resulting in a solidified and mostly secure Empire of Mexiko.

Where bribery, blackmail, and brainwashing appear to be successfully used on characters in Mexican history who are traditionally viewed as very anti-Empire it must be remembered that the only stability for the people of Mexico and its government appears to come from liberal Maximilian and his powerful European allies. It is not my intention to sully the names of these Mexican heroes, rebels, and champions of Independence, but rather to make Constitutional Empire their best and only option.

This dramatic history will continue until perhaps WWII and I plan on including an epilogue from the modern perspective. If anyone is an expert on anything covered here, please contact me as I will need proof readers more experienced than I. ANY AND ALL help is asked of this forum. Butterfly Police, however, have no place in a well researched and creative TL or discussion and all snobbery will be rejected in favor of those who are legitimately interested in my story and in helping me with it.

A final note: The inspiration for this idea came to me in a French Cafe in San Luis Potosi several years ago. The original design was to "Eurofy" Mexico and empower the country economically, culturally, and militarily in enough time to affect the events of the early to mid twentieth century. Mexico has ever been an unorganized shambles and this TL will reverse that for a while... but with dire consequences at the end.

My intention is not to undermine or offend the deservedly proud people of Mexico or their rich cultural and historical heritage.

And without further ado, prepare for the drama of...

Maximilian: The Rise and Fall of the Mexikan Empire.
