Maxime Weygand's career advancement if it were revealed he was of royal descent

During his lifetime, there was already speculation that he was fathered by Leopold II on account of the Belgian royal stipend he received throughout childhood, and I've read some compelling arguments that he might have been the illegitimate son of Emperor Maximilian and one of Charlotte's Mexican ladies in waiting. In any case, IOTL the mystery of his parents' identities was never solved on account of the people who knew the answer taking it with them to the grave.

But for this thought experiment, let us say that his royal parentage is publicly announced shortly after his graduation from cavalry school. IOTL, career advancement for devoutly Catholic, anti-secular cavalry officers like Weygand were poor, but if he had the benefit of royal prestige, could he have moved up faster in the ranks in spite of the Republican political bias against conservative officers?

broaden scope of discussion to theories of Weygand's parentage is fine too. there is much room for speculation and little definitive evidence.

I thought his parentage was between Empress Carlotta or her brother Leopold, not Emperor Max. As for career affects, I can't see his royal birth being of any real help. He was a Belgian born soldier in France, not a Belgian soldier. The French military establishment would have no real reason to want to push him up the promotion latter.

I think what the OP is asking is would his royal heritage actually impede his military career. The French army during this army was highly politicized and promotion was in part governed by patronage and politics. The fact that he's related to the Belgian royal family meant that he may be sympathetic to the ideals of monarchy and thus may want a restoration of the French monarchy. The republican regime probably won't want someone who may be sympathetic to royalist movements.
