Mass emigration of Cypriots to Britain

What if Turkey had taken control of the whole Island of Cyprus, and the vast majority of the island's Greeks relocated to Britain (where they could have had easy legal access to immigrating IIRC)?

My parents witnessed the rush of the EOKA B members of the village all rushing to be evacuated to the UK by the Foreign Office waving their British passports. It turned rather unseemly as the rest of the village beat them up for causing the war. No one was trying to flee to Greece.

The Greek Cypriots would lobby heavily against anything related to Turkey.

The Greek Junta would face serious problems to allow this to happen. Something close like getting lynched in Athens.

But Turkey occupying Cyprus and causing mass exodus of Greek Cypriots is far behind the border the USA will allow Turkey to cross.
